Zero Data Collection Guarantee

TrekPal is designed with user privacy as a foundational principle. Our application operates strictly as an offline-first utility and does not harvest, store, track, sell, or share personal user information, location coordinates, or device identifiers.

1. Local Storage (On-Device Sandbox)

All user preferences—including saved cities, custom time offsets, selected color themes, language settings, and notes—are stored exclusively within your device's sandboxed local storage (iOS UserDefaults / browser localStorage). This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded to any remote server or cloud database.

2. Global Regulatory Compliance

TrekPal complies with all major privacy frameworks:

• Canada: Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
• United States: California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not sell or share consumer personal information.
• European Union & UK: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / UK GDPR Articles 12, 13, 14, and 17).
• Children's Privacy: Fully compliant with COPPA standards (zero data collected from children under 13).

3. Third-Party Services

TrekPal communicates with only two external entities:

• Currency Exchange API (open.er-api.com): Anonymous outgoing HTTPS requests to retrieve public foreign exchange rate tables. No personal identifiers, cookies, or tracking headers are transmitted.
• Apple App Store: Standard application binary distribution and voluntary opt-in crash diagnostics managed directly by iOS.

4. AI & Automated Processing

TrekPal does not use user inputs, notes, search queries, or offline calculations to train public or foundation artificial intelligence models.

5. Free Application & Billing

TrekPal is 100% free with no paid tiers, no auto-renewing subscriptions, no paywalls, and zero financial data harvesting.

6. User Right to Erasure (Data Deletion)

You can permanently purge all stored local data at any time by opening the Settings tab and tapping "ERASE ALL DATA & RESET", or by uninstalling the application from your device.
